politics un usual

Ok, America, I get it. We wanted authentic. We were tired of plastic politicians, so we decided even a pussy grabbing pervert is better than prolonging the prophylactic prodding to purchase products that proactively put a premium on peace, philosophical prosperity, and polite primating.

Well… He’s authentic…

But here’s the problem…

He’s a reflection of our real self, but how can this be the self we want to project? How can we choose the part of ourselves that says, “hoard, exclude, disenfranchise, stonewall, protect”?

It seems to me that our pettiest self is the self that is easiest to manipulate. Our pettiest self ultimately wants to feel safe and can only think to do that by accumulating resources and isolating from fellows. So, perhaps my best self can save me by building security out of my better nature.

My best self wants to reach out. My best self is brave. My best self is ready to risk injury for greater reward. What is more rewarding than the goodwill of my community. How do I choose to define “my community”? My city, My country, My world?

I can be authentic a lot of ways.
