politics un usual

Ok, America, I get it. We wanted authentic. We were tired of plastic politicians, so we decided even a pussy grabbing pervert is better than prolonging the prophylactic prodding to purchase products that proactively put a premium on peace, philosophical prosperity, and polite primating.

Well… He’s authentic…

But here’s the problem…

He’s a reflection of our real self, but how can this be the self we want to project? How can we choose the part of ourselves that says, “hoard, exclude, disenfranchise, stonewall, protect”?

It seems to me that our pettiest self is the self that is easiest to manipulate. Our pettiest self ultimately wants to feel safe and can only think to do that by accumulating resources and isolating from fellows. So, perhaps my best self can save me by building security out of my better nature.

My best self wants to reach out. My best self is brave. My best self is ready to risk injury for greater reward. What is more rewarding than the goodwill of my community. How do I choose to define “my community”? My city, My country, My world?

I can be authentic a lot of ways.

We should build interstate transportation networks for human and animal powered transport (bikes, horses, unicycles, roller skates, skateboards). There should be sanitary and well maintained campsites at regular and achievable intervals along this network. Building, maintaining, and utilizing them would occupy millions of people in socially constructive environmentally beneficial ways. What else are you gonna do with something that breeds so fast?

In an era of nearly instantaneous communication – where citizens do not have to stay home to tend farms while sending proxies to do their political business – every citizen, of the United States of America, ought to be a member of an additional federal legislative branch which would be vested with the power to propose and veto legislation by a majority vote.

The President of the United States of America should spend twenty hours a week meeting with anyone willing to wait in line for a conversation.

Every Congressperson and Senator ought to do the same.

All these conversations ought to be available for public viewing and reviewing.

While we do not condescend to know the time at which human life begins, we acknowledge that there are many valid philosophical perspectives, which to rest on closely held values, of life and liberty, to such an extent as to be un-debatable between those with the courage of their convictions.

Therefore, with respect for all parties involved, we will make it our goal to create the environment which most limits the artificial termination of pregnancy and least infringes on personal liberty. This will be accomplished by taking measures that increase women’s access to preventative medicine and contraception while also taking measures to increase prosperity among those most likely to resort to abortion. Once those conditions are created, we leave the ultimate outcome of the pregnancy to the conscience of the carrier. We humbly submit this resolution in good faith, with the understanding that a good compromise leaves no one happy.
